Phew! Scorching weather forecast
Very hot weather is forecast for the next few days in this area, with temperatures possibly possibly reaching the mid-30's Centigrade (over 90 Fahrenheit). If out and about, you are advised to slam on the sun lotion and wear a hat! Check out our new 5 Day Weather Forecast page. Update: The Met Office has issued a Level-2 heatwave alert for the UK. Temperatures could go as high as 35C in some parts of the UK over the next few days, but because Lynn is close to the sea, our maximum temperature should be a bit lower than this.

King's Lynn Festival
The 56th King's Lynn Festival kicked off today, and lasts till the end of July. Highlights of this year's events include legendary pianist Alfred Brendal, who is 75 this year and rarely appears outside London. His first recital is on 27 July. Lesley Garrett's sell-out concert two years ago was such a success that the world famous soprano has returned to perform more songs from opera, musicals and films. There's a full programme of classical concerts, including performances from the Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brodsky Quartet, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, paying tribute to the 250th anniversay of Mozart's birth. The theme this year is "Arts and Science", and personalities representing all aspects of the arts include comedian Tony Hawks, historian Richard Holmes, Times columnist Matthew Parris and humourist Miles Kingston. As well as concerts, there are Exhibitions, Walks and Tours, and a wide range of "umbrella events" created by artists and performers in the community. A comprehensive guide to this year's festival, and booking information, can be found on the Festival website at www.kingslynnfestival.org.uk
