    New marina takes shape

    Plan for the new marina

Proposals for Lynn's new multi-million pound marina have taken a giant leap forward with the appointment of consultants to draw up a master plan.

The marina - which could comprise up to 250 berths - is a key part of the town's regeneration strategy, and building work could begin in 2009.

"The marina is a major priority for the Council and this is a very exciting time," said Cllr Nick Daubney, Cabinet member for Regeneration. "I don't know if it's unique, but to have a marina almost bang in the middle of town is going to be fabulous for King's Lynn."

"People say 'will the marina go ahead?' and the answer is that it will, but first we have to go through these stages of making sure things stack up in engineering, quality and economic terms."

"We are going to need private investment and private partners to make it happen, but I know there is a lot of interest in the marina."

The picture above shows a rough outline plan of the marina and other proposed new developments around Boal Quay.
