Vancouver Quarter Events

April 14th – Blackmores Big Bike Ride.

EDP journalist David Blackmore will be in the centre cycling the equivilant of kings lynn to Calais, to raise funds for the bobby Moore Foundation..David will have a second bike on site which can be used by the public to help him cover the miles (the public can account for just 10% of the miles) If you fancy helping David reach his target he will be based on St Dominics square from 8am.

Spin Cycles for the event have kindly been donated by LA Fitness

 

April 16th – NEET/Discovery Centre event

The college of West Anglia (CWA) is joining forces with a number of organisations to help teenagers.

They will all be at the Vancouver Quarter, King’s Lynn, to raise awareness of the number of programmes available for those Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET). The event, on April 16, is designed to help young people and adults learn about the variety of options available in the area.

“This is particularly focussed on those who are looking to change direction or get back into education or employment. “The Discovery Centre, for example, offers a range of activities for young people that helps them stay positive and engaged in their lives,” said Julie Chaplin, NEET programme manager at the college.

A consortium of NEET providers, including adult education the Princes Trust, Discovery Centre, Open Road, Connexions, CWA and Actions for Training, will be among those taking part in the event. There will be information, advice and guidance along with a range of activities, including music by a local band.

“This is a great opportunity for young people and adults to find out what opporutnities are available in this area, The organisations will be in the Vancouver Quarter from noon to 5pm and everyone is welcome.

The North Lynn Discovery Centre offers a wide range of courses and activities for young people in the area. The Open Road project offers the chance to gain qualifications in the motor industry and has a purpose-built unit in Lynn.

 

April 23rd Easter/St Georges Celebrations

To celebrate Easter and St Georges day from 10am we will be having a host of activities in town including musicians, face painter, storyteller, Characters handing out Easter eggs and red cross hot cross buns and more.
