Festival Too ~ Friday Review

Sophie Eliis-Bextor sings Murder of the DancefloorThose who braved the weather to be at last night’s Festival Too were certainly not disappointed, with belting performances from Sinéad and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

The rain cleared right on schedule for Sinéad and the Dawnbreakers. Sinéad Quinn shot to success when she became the publics favourite on the the BBC1 TV show ‘Fame Academy’.

The Irish singer and her band did real justice to some classic country and rockabilly sounds, getting the crowd to join in with them.

By the time Sophie Ellis-Bextor appeared, the Tuesday Market Place was packed with people of all ages, who were now definitely in party mood.

Disco Queen Sophie Ellis-Bextor did not disappoint, strutting her long legs around the stage in a stunning red dress and performing classic hits Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), Take me Home and of course Murder on the Dancefloor.

Her new single Starlight from the album Make a Scene showed that Sophie certainly hasn’t lost her touch over the years. And we understand she is already working on another album.

The show was hosted by KL.FM’s dynamic duo Adam and Hannah, unashamedly plugging their Breakfast Show. It was Hannah’s first time on the Festival Too stage, and she did a great job despite admitting on Twitter how nervous she was about it!

“I think that went well! Both Sophie Ellis Bextor and Sinead and the Dawnbreakers were brilliant and even the rain went away,” said Hannah.

It certainly was a very entertaining evening. One funny incident involved a stage-hand crawling around on hands and knees to mop up rainwater while Sophie was still singing.

“I nearly burst into giggles” said Sophie “thinking I could jump on him for a ride!”

Saturdays show should be another blockbuster, with local acts put together by KL.FM and two fantastic bands topping the bill – The Hoosiers and The Feeling!

PS Now here’s a real treat. Two Festival Too acts for the price of one. Sophie Ellis-Bextor sings with The Feeling… Single out soon!
