King’s Lynn open air shopping centre, The Vancouver Quarter is celebrating Chinese New Year in spectacular style.

On Monday 23rd January, the centre will be visited by the Jim Uglow and Hung Kuen Lion Dance Team, One of the premier Lion Dance troupes in England to celebrate the year of the Dragon with a traditional lion dance.

Abbie Panks marketing manager said “Having seen the Hung Kuen team perform before, I’m really looking forward to them visiting us in King’s Lynn. We have several schools coming along to see the dance, so there will be a great atmosphere.
Everyone is welcome to come along and watch the performance.”

Lion Dancing is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture, in which performers mimic a lion’s movements in a lion costume. The Lion Dance has a long history and brings good luck for the year ahead.

The performance will take place on Baxters Plain (between Argos and Beales) at 11am on Monday 23rd January
