Euro MP paints the town red
Norfolk Euro MP Richard Howitt set pulses racing on Friday as he officially launched National Heart Month for the British Heart Foundation, in the town centre.
Richard joined local cardiac patients, volunteers and big hearted fundraisers for the British Heart Foundation to ‘paint’ red giant letters spelling out the word KING’S LYNN.
During February King’s Lynn residents are being challenged to join in the charity’s “Red for Heart” fundraising campaign by baking red cakes and eating your heart out, a quiz with red questions, or even stop seeing red with a swear box around the home or office.

Labour’s Richard Howitt MEP, who is a member of the European Parliament All Party Health Group, says:
“Sadly heart disease remains Britain’s biggest killer. 6,432 people in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk have coronary heart disease. I know we can count on King’s Lynn residents to wear their heart on their sleeves and help raise vital funds to tackle heart disease.”
Alex Mayer, fundraising manager for the British Heart Foundation in Norfolk, added:
“Heart disease can affect anyone, old or young so please join us to raise vital cash to fund life saving research and equipment and you will have our heartfelt thanks.”
