Burty’s Big Bike Ride is a big success!
Eastern Daily Press photographer Ian Burt and senior reporter David Blackmore completed a 212-mile bike ride challenge on Tuesday, raising over £2,500 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
They cycled the distance – equivalent to pedaling from King’s Lynn to the London hospital and back – on exercise bikes in the Vancouver Quarter in King’s Lynn, cycling 106 miles each.
At the end of the ride, David Blackmore excitedly proclaimed on Twitter: “We’ve done it! 341km in one day. So proud of @Ian_Burt > top effort! Think we’ve raised more than £2,500!”
The challenge commemorated the second anniversary since Ian’s youngest son Calum, had a life-changing operation at the hospital.
