Scone with the Wind at Waterstones!
Monday 23 April sees the second annual World Book Night and a very special celebration at Waterstones in Norfolk Street, King’s Lynn. For one night only the shop will be holding a film quiz – Scone with The Wind – bringing the chance to win some very special World Book Night prizes.
“World Book Night really caught on last year, right across the country, with public events and television coverage to inspire reading,” says manager Val Browning. “This year we’ll be going one better: not only giving away some brilliant books but also holding a free to enter quiz in the shop.
Scone with the Wind? “The quiz gets going at 6pm,” says Val, “so we thought it a good idea to give away tea and scones as well!”
The shop will also have a selection of favourite titles ready to hand out free of charge, on a first come, first served basis. Val reckons there’s something to please everyone: Bill Bryson’s laugh-out-loud Notes from a Small Country, Maggie O’Farrell’s The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox and especially for Scandi crime fans John Ajvide Lindqvist’s Let the Right One In.”
“We’re staying open till 7pm,” says Val. “Everyone’s welcome, even if you don’t know the answer to this one: which 1960s film idol was born Derek Jules Gaspard Ulric Niven van den Bogaerde?” No, the answer isn’t Clark Gable, or even Vivien Leigh.
