Charity Chief ‘shamed’ into running GEAR 10k
Chris Hoddy, Chief Executive at Norfolk charity Break, has been ‘persuaded’ to run in the GEAR 10K on Sunday 6 May.
“My wife Jan and son James have done the GEAR run for the past two years so I’ve now been shamed into it! Going to the gym is an alien concept for me, so doing 10k without being chased by a large predator is a major challenge.
“I’m now spending three days a week at the gym on that treadmill thing and can do 5k with relative ease, and I hope to be able to do the 10k in 1hour and 15 mins max.”
Chris adds: “I’ll either make it to the finishing line…or end up in A and E.”
All funds raised go to Break’s Moving On work with young people who have left care and need a lot of help to make it in the adult world. Most of us had this support from our parents or family at such a crucial time in our lives – it is really tough if for whatever reason that support is not there.
Chris Hoddy’s Just Giving page is at justgiving.com/Athletico-Harpley.
As you might have guessed from the name of the Just Giving page, Chris lives at Harpley, near King’s Lynn.
