Young musicians to perform in King’s Lynn
Young musicians from across Norfolk are to perform in King’s Lynn later this month, in their annual celebration concert.
Norfolk County Council’s Intermediate Youth Orchestra (NCiYO) will be at St Nicholas’ Chapel on Saturday 26 May from 7pm.
The orchestra, made up of young people aged 10 to 17, will perform a range of pieces including Leighton’s Dance Suite and the score from the Lord of the Rings. They will be led by guest conductor John Stephens.
There are more than 100 members of the ensemble, who all play at grade four to six standard. They spend time in the intermediate orchestra before moving on to the Norfolk County Youth Orchestra.
Entry to the concert is free, with donations requested to support the orchestra’s work.
The NCiYO will also be joining the Norfolk County Youth Orchestra in Norwich on Sunday 8 July, for a performance at St Andrew’s Hall. The concert, which starts at 3pm will include The Planets by Holst and a performance of John Williams Olympic Fanfare.
