Sculptor Andy Hibbert

Sculptor Andy Hibbert demonstrates how to carve an Angel.

There was a very good turnout for the St Nicholas chapel Festival of Angels over the weekend.

The Chapel was filled with dozens of life-sized angels, produced by local organisations.

The event was raising funds for essential work to the Chapel, that will cost of £1.7 million to complete.

The Churches Conservation Trust and Friends of St Nicholas Chapel are working together to raise a minimum pf £200,000 in order to secure a grant of £1.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund to complete the work.

Raising the money will enable re-roofing of the Chapel, preserving the endangered carved angels beneath it, installation of a kitchenette and toilet facilities to draw in new visitors and develop new visitor information to allow the fascinating stories and history of St Nicholas to live on for future generations.
