A butterfly mind and habits of a magpie

Garry Hobbs in studio 300

We were excited to revisit artist Garry Hobbs at his home in Terrington St Clement on Saturday. His studio was open as part of the 20th Norfolk Open studios event.

Garry’s figurative paintings and drawings depict “connections, conjunctions, dreams, landscapes and relationships.” and he describes himself as having a “butterfly mind and habits of a magpie.”

“This is the second year I’ve exhibited here. I had a very successful first weekend last year and made several sales, and so I’m quite optimistic of getting lots more visitors this year.

“I’ve discovered there are 3 or 4 other artists in the King’s Lynn area who would like to get together in future years to generate even more interest. In Castle Acre for example there are 10 or 12 artists that have got a little trail together.”

“I would love to spend more time on my art, but having a full time job in Norwich makes it difficult.”

Garry’s studio will be open over the Bank Holiday and continues over the following two weekends. Garry’s website is at garryhobbs.co.uk and more details of the Norfolk Open Studios can be found at nnopenstudios.org.uk
