A survey carried out by a local church has revealed what ‘hurts’ King’s Lynn residents the most.

The results show that more than 13 percent of King’s Lynn-area residents suffer from relationship issues, while another 12 percent deal with the death of a friend or loved one on a daily basis.

The Gateway Church recently distributed hundreds of postcards asking one simple question: What hurts the most?

Within weeks, over 300 people had answered. “What hurts the most? Watching my wife suffer from brain cancer,” one man wrote. Others recorded loneliness and relationship pain, while another woman shared about losing her child over two years ago.

Pastor Andy Moyle and his staff charted the results, which ran from abuse and racism to family issues and work problems, but all had one thing in common: they simply need someone to care.

The Gateway Church are now basing their entire autumn preaching series around meeting the needs of a hurting community. In addition to relevant sermons, the congregation will form a plan of action to address each type of pain.

Entitled “There is Hope”, the 7 week schedule looks like this:

21st Sept – There is hope – Relationships
5th Oct –There is hope – Death
12th Oct — There is hope – Sickness
19th Oct — There is hope – Family Issues
2nd Nov — There is hope – Money worries
9th Nov — There is hope – Injustice
16th Nov — There is hope – Loneliness

The Gateway Church meets Sunday mornings at King’s Lynn Academy, Queen Mary Road, PE30 4QG at 10 a.m. For more information, see thegatewaychurch.info/there-is-hope or who-cares.org.uk.
