Bus station to close for 5 days

bus station worksKing’s Lynn Bus station is to close for 5 days while resurfacing takes place.

Contractors and operators have agreed that the best option is to close the bus station to vehicles for a five-day period and resurface the whole area in one go. Not only will this reduce the overall length of time that bus services will be disrupted, but will also ensure that the surface will last longer and need less maintenance as it will be free of any joins.

From 1 June to 5 June the bus station will be closed to vehicles and Northbound bus services and coach services currently operating from bays 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be temporarily relocated to Clough Lane, adjacent to the multi-storey car park. Southbound services will continue to operate from Portland Street.

Cllr Nick Daubney, Leader of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, said: “This is a major refurbishment project and we are already starting to see how much better it will be once complete. We are expecting completion towards the end of June and would like to thank everyone for their co-operation and patience over the last few months.

“We always knew that the resurfacing was going to be the trickiest element to complete and I am pleased that the operators and contractors have come up with a solution that will not only reduce the overall disruption but also lessen the need for future maintenance work in the area.”

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work and hope that once the project is complete that everyone will start to reap the benefits of a more modern, smoke-free and fit-for-purpose bus station.”

From 1 to 5 June northbound services affected by the temporary relocation are:

Norfolk Green – Fairstead One
Norfolk Green – North Lynn Two
Norfolk Green – North Lynn Three
