Hospital Radio Lynn is a registered charity which broadcasts solely to the patients of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn 7 days a week. They receive no funding from government and are staffed entirely by volunteers. Not one of them receives personal expenses or any form of payment. They are proud to say that every £1 that is donated to their Charity goes directly towards its’ running costs.
Hospital Radio is proven to promote recovery in patients. It relieves boredom during a stay in hospital and hearing a favourite piece of music can help with emotional wellbeing. Additionally they visit the wards to collect requests for their most important daily broadcast; the 2 hour Request and Dedication show each evening. Chatting to patients, some of which have not had any visitors for days or at all, is a welcoming distraction for them.
They also provide PA services in the community; not just to raise funds but also to provide smaller events (such as school or village fetes) with an affordable service.
The organisation is continually seeking volunteers of all ages to help out with a wide range of activities including Ward Visiting, Broadcasting, Fundraising and helping out with general preparations for broadcast.
