New Innovation Centre takes shape

Innovation CentreWest Norfolk’s newest business hub, the King’s Lynn Innovation Centre (KLIC) is taking shape. Occupying a 1.5 acre site of the Nar Ouse Regeneration Area, the building is to attract investment and provide support for start-up companies and aspiring entrepreneurs in order to deliver economic growth in West Norfolk.

The structure is now visible to passing traffic on the A47. With a view to ensuring it is watertight by winter, the cladding and window installation work has begun and will be completed by the end of the month. The curtain walling (glazed wall of atrium area) is a central feature and will be completed by the end of November.

The project is on schedule to provide state-of-the-art space for West Norfolk businesses in the spring of 2016.

So what will the building offer when it opens next year?

KLIC facts
· Total floor area is 20,979 ft² (1,949m²)
· Innovation Centre space office area of 14,747 ft² (1,370m²).
· 75 car parking spaces and secure cycle storage facilities,

There will be rentable offices to the Southern end of the KLIC building, while a glazed atrium providing reception and informal meeting spaces in the middle. A 4 storey element, to the Northern end of the building contains a large conference room, meeting rooms, welfare facilities and also rentable office space.

What KLIC will offer local businesses:
· More than 25 offices will be available to rent.
· 1 large conference room ( with capacity for up to 100 people);
· 3 high specification meeting rooms;
· Reception and multi-functional areas for informal meeting and refreshment uses, including a first floor mezzanine ‘break- out area;
· Nwes on site management/business support facilities.

The centre has been made possible with £3m funding from New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership and £1.5 million funding from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk. KLIC has been designed by architects Feilden+Mawson and is the latest in a large portfolio of innovation centre concepts for the Norwich-based firm.
