New Home Library Service at Gaywood Library

library booksGaywood Library is setting up a new Home Library Service for local people who love to read but are unable to get to their library.

The new facility, run by the Royal Voluntary Service, will help by delivering books to peoples homes, whether permanently or temporarily. It’s aimed at people of all ages, who are restricted due to ill health, disability or full time caring duties which stop them getting to the library in the usual opening hours.

Gaywood Library say they are particularly looking for readers in the Fairstead/Gaywood area who may be in need of this service, but it also operates out of King’s Lynn, Downham Market, Dersingham and Hunstanton Libraries.

The service is tailored according to the interests and needs of the individual. This includes for example, large print, spoken word CDs and tapes. Reminiscence packs and books on local history are also available for people with memory loss and concentration difficulties.

Gaywood Library told us: “All volunteers have been checked and vetted, and are friendly, trustworthy and could make a real difference by visiting you.”
