King’s Lynn Samaritans Annual Bike Ride

samaritans bike rideLast year’s Bike Ride in aid of the King’s Lynn Samaritans attracted 200 riders and raised almost £5000 and this year they are hoping to do even better.

This year’s event will start as usual from the Visitor Centre at Sandringham on Sunday May 15th , registration from 09.30 am with pedals being pushed at 10.00am.

The Bike Ride takes a circular route starting and finishing at the Visitor Centre and is 14 miles long, there is a shorter 8 mile route ideal for younger riders or those of us who have not been on a Bike for a while! The course is marshalled, St. Johns Ambulance are in attendance and a Radio controlled vehicle follows the last rider so in the event of mechanical failure no-one is left behind.

Sir Henry Bellingham, who is a great supporter of King’s Lynn Samaritans, will once again be in charge of the start and will be influential in selecting the winners of the Fancy Dress competition. This year’s theme is Historical (Hysterical) Figures. Fancy dress is not compulsory but those that do dress themselves and their bikes have great fun in doing so and help create the unique atmosphere that the Bike Ride has.

Last year’s defending champions “Team Lemon”, who created a witches cauldron on four wheels complete with smoke, have already teased the organisers with the promise of “something really special” for this year’s event so it should be worth coming just to see what their imagination has cooked up.

Entry to the Bike Ride is FREE, refreshments for all riders are FREE, every rider will receive a medal and if the younger, or even the not so younger, riders would like a free certificate as well that can be arranged too.
