Not About Heroes - Westacre Theatre, River Road, Westacre, PE32 1UD
The friendship of Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen by Stephen Macdonald. Directed by David Connor. In this centenary year this outstanding play presents a dramatic and moving tribute to two of the outstanding poets of the Great War. Owen and Sassoon met under strange and strained circumstances in the Craiglockhart War Hospital for Nervous Disorders in 1917. In this evocative play culled from letters, diaries and the poems themselves Macdonald has assembled a warm, moving and insightful account of the trajectory of this short but ‘strangely fruitful’ friendship. Tickets - Thursday £12 (£9 students), Friday and Saturday £16 (£12 students). For more information or to book contact 01760 755800 or visit
