King's Lynn is a busy and friendly town situated on the eastern side of Britain in the county of Norfolk.
King's Lynn enjoys the best of both worlds - a modern vibrant commercial centre set in a town steeped in history. The town is the major focus of an extensive area of West Norfolk serving numerous small villages making up a total population of nearly 140,000 people.
The residents in this rural region look to Lynn as the main town from a retail, business and industrial point of view.
There is a traffic-free town centre that contains many of the popular chain stores like Boots, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, W.H.Smith and Woolworths.
Off centre streets like Norfolk Street, Tower Street, and St James' Street offer smaller, more specialist shops usually run by the owner. The multiple traders exist happily alongside their smaller neighbours, offering customers a wide choice of goods.
A large area of the town centre has just undergone a multi-million pound redevelopment giving it a bright new look more in keeping with the twenty-first century style retail architecture.
On the outskirts of the town, in addition to two large retail parks which include fast food restaurants, are two main industrial estates with numerous firms, some of them employing several hundred people.
In summer months there is much to attract the tourist, with the renowned King's Lynn Festival each July and tours of the town's "historic core" taking in St. Margarets Church and the fine Town Hall.
In recent years the old Corn Exchange in Lynn's historic Tuesday Market Place has been transformed to become a top entertainment venue, with concerts and sell-out performances by the country's top performers.
Tuesday & Friday held at Tuesday Market Place, Saturday held at Saturday Market Place.
Trains run about once an hour to and from King's Cross, London, via Cambridge. Buses run once every 30 minutes to Peterborough, Norwich and Spalding - There are also bus connections to Hunstanton, Fakenham and other locations in Norfolk.
