11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  Sedgeford, near Hunstanton
Archaeological site open to visitors Sunday to Friday (Please note the site is closed to visitors on Saturdays). Each Friday at 3.30pm there is a special site tour looking at the findings from the previous week. 2010 will be the 15th season of SHARP’s excavations at Sedgeford. The earlier focus has been centered on the Middle Saxon cemetery. However, since 2007 efforts have been concentrated on understanding the nearby Middle to Late Saxon settlement in Chalkpit field. It is here where the extent and status of the settlement is beginning to develop, along with its land usage and associated activity. This season we will see a continuation of excavations of the structures and land boundaries that are already giving tantalizing glimpses of the importance of the site. The project also runs courses in excavation techniques and other archaeological topics - visit www.sharp.org.uk or contact Brenda Stibbons on 07786644980
